Sparta whistleblower accuses bosses of allowing contaminated drinking water

Issue Detail:

In his May 2013 lawsuit, Mark Nelson, a Pumping Station Operator for Sparta Township, alleges that he was retaliated against by his supervisor Michael Sportelli, Municipal Utilities Director Philip Spaldi and Township Manager David Troast for blowing the whistle about turning off lead and copper treatment mechanisms at the Township\'s Newstar and Buttonwood Pump Houses that Nelson believed \"resulted in an increased likelihood of contaminated water being present in the Township\'s water supply to its residents.\" The lawsuit containing the allegations is on-line here.
